Identity Verification Policy
Verification is feature-gated, not a gate to entry. It is not required for public learning, the Noor assistant, goal-setting or wellbeing.
1. What we changed and why
An earlier design required identity verification before you could reach your dashboard. That design has been retired. Requiring a document from a woman before she has received any value from us is the wrong order, and it collects sensitive data we do not need.
2. When verification applies
Verification unlocks only higher-trust surfaces:
- Women-only community circles
- Selected in-person and online events
- Mentoring relationships
- Future high-trust partner experiences
Everything else — learning, courses, Noor, goals, habits, wellbeing and body literacy — remains fully open without it.
3. What we store
Afiyah is not the custodian of your identity documents. Where verification is performed, we store a provider reference supplied by a specialist verification provider, together with the feature it was requested for and the review outcome. We do not store raw identity documents, and we do not store OCR text extracted from them.
4. Human decision
Verification outcomes are decided by a trained human reviewer. Automated systems may assist with queue prioritisation, but they never approve or reject on their own. Administrator access to any verification record is logged before the record is opened.
5. Your control
Verification is opt-in and requires separate explicit consent. You may decline it, withdraw it, or request deletion of the reference, and continue using the rest of Afiyah without restriction.
