Shariah Compliance & Governance Framework

1. Our position, stated honestly

Afiyah is Shariah-conscious by design. Product and content governance may be reviewed through the ADL Advisory Board. Afiyah does not issue personal fatwas and does not guarantee that every user decision is Shariah-compliant.

2. The Shariah-sensitive release path

Nothing high-impact skips the gate:

1. Concept logged — intent and expected benefit recorded.
2. Regulatory boundary — checked against the perimeter before design.
3. Shariah sensitivity — classified for the level of review required.
4. Evidence pack — sources, citations and reasoning assembled.
5. Human board review — qualified scholars sign off before publication.
6. Controlled release — shipped with monitoring, versioning and a route back.

3. Knowledge governance

Every knowledge source is recorded with its origin and licensing. Quranic and sensitive religious content requires scholar review before publication. Responses are citation-first. Where scholars differ, divergent positions are handled explicitly rather than flattened into a single answer. Knowledge is versioned and reviewed over time, not set once.

4. Scope of the board

The advisory board governs Shariah integrity of content and product policy. It does not certify individual member decisions, and it does not act as a personal fatwa service. Personal rulings are referred to a named qualified scholar.

5. Review cadence

This framework is versioned and reviewed quarterly. Material amendments are disclosed in-product where they are member-facing.
